Information for tenants
If your landlord or agent holds your deposit, it may be protected with our Insured scheme. You can find our Insured scheme here.
If you have a private tenancy and have paid a deposit to your landlord (or agent), by law it must be protected in a government approved scheme. TDS is the longest running provider of deposit protection.
We protect deposits from being lost or unfairly withheld, and resolve disputes where tenants and landlords can't agree how much the landlord can deduct. Your landlord can choose to protect your deposit with our insured scheme, where they hold the deposit, or the custodial scheme, where they pay the deposit to us.
