#ExpertView: Community Links Bromley receives funding to help local tenants
Community Links Bromley has received £8,870 funding from the TDS Charitable Foundation to create an online toolkit for new tenants renting privately in Bromley.
The Tenant Toolkit, which will be online by July 2018, will be designed to support those entering the Private Rented Sector in Bromley and educate them on how to access the local support that is available to them, so they can develop a sustainable and long term tenancy. The toolkit will be developed in consultation with key voluntary support agencies and individual tenants in the Borough.
The TDS Charitable Foundation was set up by TDS, the UK’s leading tenancy deposit protection scheme to improve standards in the private rented sector. In the latest round of funding it gave over £94,000 to 10 organisations across the country. Since its inception, the Foundation has provided over £400k in funding support for organisations across England and Wales.
Community Links Bromley is a membership organisation that supports and promotes the development of a diverse, confident and effective voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.
Toni Walsh, Community Investment Manager at Community Links Bromley, said: “We believe that the Bromley Tenant Toolkit will set out a good framework for joint working across private and community sectors - using an online platform to reach out to those who need the most support”
Professor Martin Partington CBE, QC and Chairman of the TDS Charitable Foundation, said: “We are proud to support the creation of an online toolkit for new tenants entering the Borough of Bromley, helping to educate residents on their rights and responsibilities. Tenants who are educated on what to expect from their landlord and agent are less likely to come into conflict with them and will enjoy a smoother tenancy.
“The TDS Charitable Foundation goes right to the heart of the private rented market, with grants aimed directly at benefitting tenants and landlords in communities across England and Wales.”
